Distinguished Alumni Award Recipients 2025
On Friday, April 4, during Reunion Weekend, the Kinkaid Alumni Association will honor outstanding alumni and non-alumni friends for their service to the School and community with the Presentation of the Distinguished Alumni Awards.
Rusty Walter '76
Distinguished Alumnus
Rusty Walter '76 entered in the tenth grade. After Kinkaid graduation, Rusty pursued his interest in geology at The University of Texas at Austin, earning his degree in 1980. He then furthered his education with a master's degree in business administration in 1982 also at The University of Texas at Austin.
Graham Gaylor '10
Distinguished Young Alumnus
Graham Gaylor '10 entered Kinkaid in 6th grade. Throughout his time as a student he was involved in Band and clubs including Chinese Club, Latin Club, and Habitat for Humanity. Graham went on to Vanderbilt University where he graduated in 2014 with a degree in mathematics and computer science.
Linda Miller
Distinguished Honorary Alumna
Linda Miller began her 43-year career at Kinkaid in August 1980, teaching three homogeneous Physics I classes. AP Physics was added the following year. Physics I was split into honors and on-level courses, and enrollment increased steadily until virtually every student was taking physics.
Adrian Turner Ross '62
Outstanding Alumni Service Award
Adrian Turner Ross ’62's connection to Kinkaid began in 1949, when she entered kindergarten at the Richmond campus. She graduated in 1962 from the "new" Memorial campus, marking the beginning of a lifelong association with the School. Molly Higby
Edward M. Trusty Jr. Core Values Award
Molly Higby has always been active, as the youngest of nine siblings growing up in Michigan. She competed in volleyball, basketball, soccer, and softball during her playing career. Before moving to Houston in 1981, she was an all-district and all-state basketball and softball player her freshman and sophomore years at St. Stephens.
About the Distinguished Alumni Awards
- Distinguished Honorary Alumni Award: This award honors a non-alumnus/a who has been significantly involved with Kinkaid and has made a difference in our community.
- Distinguished Alumni Award: This award honors an alumnus/a who has provided extraordinary service to the community or has achieved outstanding personal or professional success and is over 40 years of age.
- Distinguished Young Alumni Award: This award honors a young alumnus/a, age 40 or under at the time of nomination, with a significant record of career achievement in their chosen field and a promise for future success.
- The Outstanding Alumni Service Award: This award is presented to an alumnus/a who has had a longstanding relationship with the School and has demonstrated exceptional commitment and service to Kinkaid’s alumni.
- The Edward M. Trusty Jr. Core Values Award award is given occasionally to a Kinkaid employee who exemplifies the School's four core values and goes above and beyond in his or her work.
