The Annual Celebration of African American Heritage and Culture 2024: Ten Years Strong

This year marks the 10th anniversary of the Celebration of African American Heritage and Culture (CAAHC) at the Kinkaid School.  This program, put together by a committee of faculty and staff members, highlights and celebrates the African Diaspora and the history of the contributions of African Americans to our society.  The origin of the event was seeded by Dr. Ed Trusty who had the vision to create an inclusive highlight for the community. The inaugural committee had the focus and hope of making the event an integral part of the Kinkaid calendar and experience. What was once held in the Brass Recital Hall has now grown to fill seats of the Katz-Brown Auditorium and is undoubtedly as impactful and robust as desired.

The evening event is open to the entire Kinkaid community including families and alumni and is led by students from across all three divisions of the school who showcase their various talents.

In recognizing Black History and honoring the Black experience, our community amplifies the voices of those who have been historically unheard and undervalued. The Celebration of African American Heritage and Culture serves as a foundational element of the larger observation of Black History month and the other events that take place throughout the month of February.
