During the day, A Likely Story may look like any other used bookstore. But at night, it’s a place where magic happens. That’s when the characters inside the books come alive.

Six of those characters — Dorothy Gale, Robin Hood, Pollyanna, Sherlock Holmes, Heidi, and Tom Sawyer — long to help Margie, the scatterbrained owner, save her struggling store. But they’re not allowed to leave the building or be seen by human eyes. So when a pair of smugglers comes looking for a stolen necklace hidden inside one of the books, the characters are torn. Should they warn Margie and risk disappearing forever? Or can they find a way to defeat the crooks without being seen?

Featuring additional appearances by such beloved literary characters as the Queen of Hearts, Long John Silver, and Doctor Dolittle, this charming comedy celebrates the joy of reading in a fresh, fun-filled way.

Peter and the Starcatcher provides a humorous and fantastical backstory for the beloved character of Peter Pan and his arch-nemesis Captain Hook. In this wickedly imaginative play, we meet a poor orphaned child on the high seas simply called Boy because, in the absence of a mother and a father, he was never given a name. His sad and lonely world is turned upside down when he meets Molly. The daughter of famous Starcatcher Lord Astor, our heroine is on a mission to save the world and protect a treasure trunk filled with magical star stuff from getting into the hands of evil and greedy pirate Black Stache. As they travel aboard the Neverland ship headed for a faraway land, Molly and Boy learn about love, and friendship and forge an unbreakable bond.

The KinkADE Underground presents
JANE EYRE
Adapted by Christina Calvit
Based on the Novel by Charlotte Bronte

October 13, 2023 7:00pm Edwards Black Box Theatre
October 15,
2023 2:00pm Edwards Black Box Theatre

Orphaned Jane Eyre overcomes her early abusive and lonely experiences to become an accomplished governess at Thornfield, the mysterious home of Mr. Rochester. She is drawn to the master of the house, but their future is destroyed by a secret from his past...a secret that also forces Jane to flee Thornfield into poverty and illness.

Eventually, Jane is able to find family, wealth, and love, but not without a cost. Though faithful to the original story, this adaptation also focuses on Jane's gradual ability to shed the ghosts of her past to become a fully realized person.

KinkADE Underground is an opportunity for our advanced acting students to create an Actor Driven Event (minimal sets, minimal lights, minimal costumes) while working on more thought-provoking literature that challenges both actor and audience to critically think about issues.

A snow day is reason to celebrate for the teenagers of the small town of Deerpoint, Vermont – until they realize they have homework. Boredom is about to set in when out of the blizzard appears an enigmatic girl who needs their help. Eva’s presence brings out the best and worst of their social dynamics. Is she a ghost? Is she real? Or is she merely a collective fiction? Who she truly is and what she is searching for become not only mysteries to be solved but questions each character asks of themselves. What they believe about their own identities ultimately turns out to be more important than the mystery itself.

*KinkADE Underground is an opportunity to create an Actor-Driven Event with minimal sets, lights, & costumes while working on more thought-provoking literature that challenges both actor and audience to reflect on the world and their place in it.

Truvy’s salon in Chinquapin, Louisiana is the go-to place for a beauty fix with a hearty side of gossip. Along with her overeager assistant Annelle, Truvy pampers her small-town clients with hairdos, manicures and all kinds of unsolicited advice. Anybody who’s anybody is a regular: There’s the doting M’Lynn and her soon-to-be-married daughter Shelby, the moody Ouiser and the well-to-do widow Clairee. Through witty banter and wisecracks, this hodgepodge group of women form friendships as strong as steel, which they are forced to lean on when tragedy strikes.

Hold on to your hoverboards, we're taking a trip Back to the 80s! When modern teen Mary Fitzfry gets sent back in time by an eccentric professor, she finds herself in the middle of a totally tubular cavalcade of 80s pop culture. There's a lot of familiar faces, from the teens in breakfast-time detention to the guys chasing ghosts and dancing zombies, but the biggest surprise of all is Mary's own protective mom as a teen. Turns out she's actually kind of rad - but thanks to Mary's time travel, she's in trouble. Can Mary make things right? This adventure takes you from the mall where everything happens, to a suburban sitcom street, to a cave under the high school.  A hilarious parody to make all ages cheer "I love the 80s!"
