When is the deadline to apply for the 2020-2021 Academic Year?

Pre-Kindergarten & Kindergarten: Friday, September 27, 2019.

Grades 1-12: Wednesday, December 4, 2019.

What are the application requirements?

The requirements vary based upon which grade you are applying for, please visit the Apply page for more information.

What are the natural entry points to the School? Can we still apply for grades that are not natural entry points?

Our natural entry points are Pre-K, Kindergarten, 6th grade and 9th grade.
Yes, we do accept applications for non-entry points and space is available based on attrition.

When is the best time to tour the campus?

We provide tours to prospective families from September through April.
Please contact us at 713-243-5033 to schedule your tour.
(Note: Applicants for grades 6 and 9 will receive a tour of campus while on campus for their interview.)

When will families be notified of their child’s admission decision?

Pre-Kindergarten: The notification date is Friday, December 20, 2019.
Grades Kindergarten-12: The notification date is Friday, March 13, 2020.

If we choose to re-apply for admission, do we need to submit a new application?

  • Yes, we welcome your application and require that you re-submit your application forms to us.

If we live outside of the Houston area, how does this affect our group visit date or interview?

It is always our desire to meet all of the candidates for whom group visits are required. However, if attending the visit is prohibitive, you may call to request a waiver for this requirement.

For 6th and 9th grade applicants, students may be interviewed online.

On what date will Kinkaid be hosting the Independent School Entrance Exam (ISEE)?

Kinkaid will host the ISEE test on Saturday, January 11, 2020. Check in will begin at 8:15 a.m. and testing will start promptly at 9:00 a.m. The deadline to register for our testing date is Saturday, December 21, 2019. Spaces are limited, so be sure to register as soon as possible.

What are the age requirements for Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten applications?

For Pre-Kindergarten, candidates must be at least four years old by July 1 of the year they will enter Pre-Kindergarten, and they must not have turned five before June 1 of the year they will enter Pre-Kindergarten.

For Kindergarten, candidates must be at least five years old before July 1 of the year they will enter Kindergarten, and they must not have turned six before June 1 of they year they will enter Kindergarten.

Does Kinkaid accept international students?

Yes. However, please be advised that The Kinkaid School does not offer a program for International Students, nor do we issue I-20 visas.

How do I know if I have successfully completed the application?

You will receive a confirmation email within 24 hours of completing the application. If you are unsure whether your application has been received please call our office at 713-243-5033 to verify with a staff member.

Is the application fee refundable if I withdraw my child's application?

No, the application fee is non-refundable.

When should I give my child's teacher the teacher recommendation form to complete?

We ask that you give the teacher time to get to know your child before giving them the recommendation form. To ensure that we get the most up to date report on the student's performance in the classroom we cannot accept teacher recommendations before the following dates:

  • Pre- Kindergarten: Do not give to teachers before Tuesday, October 1, 2019.
  • Kindergarten- Grade 12: Do not give to teachers before Monday, December 2, 2019.

Where can I send completed application materials?

Completed application forms are only accepted from the sending school or recommender completing the form. Application materials can be emailed to or mailed directly to the Admission Office.

What is Kinkaid's Immunization Policy?

The Kinkaid School requires that all students be compliant with the Texas Minimum State Vaccine Requirements. Students must be up to date on vaccines and submit immunization records prior to the first day of school.  The School does not accept exemptions based on conscientious objections.
