Kinkaid accepts applications one year prior to the date of expected entry. Natural entry points are Pre-Kindergarten, Kindergarten, Sixth Grade, and Ninth Grade. Please select the grade-level options below for specific grade-level application requirements. You may use the Admission Portal during the admission process to check the status of your application. Lower School
Pre-Kindergarten
The online application deadline for 2026-2027 Pre-Kindergarten is Friday, September 19, 2025.
The deadline for application materials - WPPSI Results and Teacher Recommendation is Friday, October 24, 2025.
Age Requirement – Candidates must be at least four years old by July 1 of the year they will enter Pre-Kindergarten, and they must not have turned five before June 1 of the year they will enter Pre-Kindergarten.

The testing fee of $325 is paid directly to Collaborative Academic Testing (CATS). This test takes approximately 30-45 minutes. Testing results are due to our office by Friday, October 24, 2025.
Step 4: Group Visit/Developmental Assessment
All applicants will be invited to a group visit where they will meet grade level teachers and spend time in Kinkaid classrooms. This is an opportunity for our teachers to get to know our applicants in a small group setting. Applicants will also be scheduled for an individual developmental assessment. Group visits and developmental assessments will take place on assigned dates and times beginning in September.
Step 5: Teacher Recommendation
The recommendation is a confidential response from your child’s current instructors.

Check in time is at 8:30 a.m. on the day of testing, testing will begin promptly at 9:00 a.m., and students will be dismissed by 12:00 p.m.

2025, in order to register for the ISEE at Kinkaid. Early registration closes on November 14, 2025.

Each candidate for Grade 6 will have an interview with a member of the Admission Committee. After submitting the application, a faculty member assigned to the candidate will contact you by telephone or email to set a mutually agreeable time for the student interview.

Grade 6 Math and English Teacher Recommendations: In order to give the teacher time to get to know your applicant better, we ask that you not give the teacher this form before Monday, December 1, 2025. This form will be due Monday, January 12, 2026.
Special Interest Recommendation: To begin the process, a parent or guardian must complete the request form linked below. Once submitted, the Special Interest Recommendation Form will be automatically emailed to the recommender listed in the form.
The request form below should be submitted by December 16, 2025, to allow the recommender sufficient time to complete their portion. The recommender's form is due Monday, January 12, 2026.
