France Homestay Interim Trip 2009 Updates
Hello from France!!!
I absolutely love my home stay family and France!
All of the American girls go to class with our house sisters in the morning and in the afternoons we go on little expeditions in Grenoble. We have also gone on day trips to Vienne and Lyon.
The photo of the group and ancient Roman ruins in the background was taken in Vienne, a major commercial center of the ancient Roman Empire. We spent the day doing a walking tour around the city looking at buildings and structures dating all the way to Caesar's reign.
The other photo was taken in the main hallway of LGM (lycée du Grésivaudan).
The France Homestay has been a great experience and I wouldn’t trade it for anything.
The next day, we had a good breakfast and croissants and hot chocolate and coffee, and then we walked to the Louvre. The Louvre was an exceptional art museum and we saw everything from the Venus de Milo to a temporary exhibit of Picasso works. Then we caught a train to Grenoble to meet our families. From there, we went home to separate houses with them, ate dinner, and went to bed. The next day was the first day of French school for us, and English class was very interesting. After lunch, the 7 girls, Mme. O’Donnell, and Mme. R, our coordinator, went to downtown Grenoble to walk through the streets and see the sights. Then we saw the Art Museum of Grenoble, which was very pretty. We returned home to our families to spend a weekend bonding with them, doing various activities.
