Message from the Headmaster

Don North

Welcome to The Kinkaid School. Kinkaid is a vibrant, happy, and productive school community distinguished by the high quality of our faculty and staff, the energy, character and talent of our student body, exceptional school facilities, and the wonderful support provided by parents, alumni, trustees, and so many others. I invite you to explore the school’s website and begin to learn about the people, the programs, and the character of our school.

Kinkaid’s mission is “to promote educational excellence, personal responsibility, and balanced growth; and thereby to help its students discover and develop their talents and achieve their best potentials.” We believe “educational excellence” means broad growth and achievement, and we strongly encourage our students to seek excellence in academics, the arts, athletics, and extracurricular activities. A few years ago I asked a graduating senior what she valued most about her experience at Kinkaid. “They don’t say no to you much around here,” she answered. I asked her what she meant, and she recounted the enormously broad range of opportunities for learning that she found available to her at Kinkaid. Through her own experience and in her own words she illustrated the school’s mission statement perfectly.

Preparing students for success in the academic challenges that await them; helping them develop a strong moral character; providing them with a range of opportunities in academics, athletics, the arts, extracurricular activities, and service; encouraging the development of leadership; and supporting our students in their journey from childhood to young adulthood—these are the primary goals of Kinkaid.

Thank you again for your interest in Kinkaid. I hope you will enjoy your visit to the school’s website and that you may be drawn to visit the campus as well.
