2013 Varsity Football
Varsity Football Philosophy
Our varsity football program will be a culmination of everything that has been taught from the 7th grade football all the way up to the varsity level. We will strive to create a winning attitude through positive reinforcement. Our goal at the varsity level will be to compete for the S.P.C. championship every year.
Our varsity football players will be expected to train, practice, and play at a very competitive level. We will teach toughness every single day. We want to be the hardest working and the most physical team in the S.P.C. This can’t happen overnight. It takes hard work and determination and the will to want to be a champion.
We want to be the best offense in the S.P.C. We will do this by using multiple offensive formations and motions to give the opponents defense problems, causing them to make radical adjustments or to get out of their base defense. We will plan and practice our plan during the week, in order to eliminate any doubt in our players minds as to what we will do in any given situation. We will not cover everything everyday we rather cover everything every week. Multiple formations, and motion when used correctly will put defensive personnel in conflict and when we are able to practice, and execute efficiently it will give us a distinct advantage. We want to achieve balance in our offensive scheme. We want to try to get as close to a 50-50 run/pass ratio as possible, as game situation permits. It will not allow the defense to predict what the offense is going to do. We give our players the freedom to audible out of a play if they feel that we are in a bad situation, this his will help eliminate us calling a play and then being “stuck” running a play that puts us into a bad situation.
Our defensive unit will be the most physical defense in the S.P.C. We will base out of a odd front. Our defense is multiple and we can easily switch to a 4-2-4, a 3-4, 4-3 or a 3-3-5 without having to change personnel. We want to teach our defensive players to play with attitude and with one purpose (to get the ball back to the offense). Our defense will focus on fundamental tackling from our very first defensive practice. In the secondary we will play multiple coverages. We will try to prevent one look on offense to prevent them making a pre-snap read and audible to a different play. Our secondary players must be physical in run support. We must develop the mentality that we are the best defense in the S.P.C and then play like it! Nothing less is acceptable.
When players leave our varsity football program, they will have an understanding of what it is like to play on a part of a team and to be a part of something bigger than you. Discipline, dedication, hard work, and most importantly fun will be the main things that we hope our players will get out being a part of Kinkaid football.
