Girls Volleyball Program Philosophy

The philosophy of the Kinkaid girls volleyball program is built on the acronym “DARE”. A game based on the “determination, acceptance, respect and effort” of each player.

Volleyball brings out a player’s determination because it is a game of errors.  It is a game where one mistake can change the pace and switch the momentum. At Kinkaid, the program strives to develop players who can bounce back after a mistake and have the determination to make changes through every point for the betterment of the team.

Since volleyball is a team sport, acceptance is a key to the program. No one individual can win a game. The lesson focus is players must celebrate others’ victories as if they are their own, since every player helps each other to attain the ultimate goal.

Respect plays off the core values of Kinkaid.  On and off the court, volleyball players are influenced to show respect to their fellow teammates, opponents, referees, coaches, and fans.

Finally, effort is a key to the basics of the game.  Players should perform to the best of their abilities at all times.  Everyone has good days and bad days, but to get through both days with the same effort is a challenge stressed in the gym. To be a successful student athlete, Kinkaid volleyball players are taught to put one’s best foot forward in everything they do.
