Kinkaid's New Head of School Appointed
The Kinkaid School Board of Trustees announced on August 22, 2012 that Dr. Andrew Martire, head master of the prestigious Calvert School in Baltimore, Maryland, will become Kinkaid's next head of school beginning July 1, 2013.
Background:
On March 20, 2012, Headmaster Don North announced his decision to retire at the end of the 2012-2013 school year. Next year will be Mr. North's 17th year as Kinkaid's Headmaster and his 44th year working in independent school education. The Board of Trustees quickly focused its efforts on identifying Kinkaid's next Head of School and appointed a group of dedicated trustees to serve on the Head of School Search Committee. The Search Committee selected the search firm of Wickenden Associates to assist Kinkaid in this endeavor. Brief History of Kinkaid's Heads of School:
In the history of the School, Kinkaid has had only four heads of school. Kinkaid was founded in 1906 by Margaret Hunter Kinkaid. Mrs. Kinkaid continued to be head of school until 1951, when John Cooper took over the role of headmaster and his 27 year tenure continued Mrs. Kinkaid's traditions of rigorous academicas, arts and athletics for all students. Under Glenn Ballard's leadership from 1979-1996, Kinkaid and its faculty were enriched by parent and alumni encouragement and support. With Don North as its current head, Kinkaid has a dedicated leader who has a vision for the School based on his commitment to move the School forward while heeding the traditions of the three wise and caring individuals who preceded him.
