Technology in the Classroom News
Technology is enhancing learning in classrooms in the Lower, Middle, and Upper School. A few of the applications of technology in the classroom are listed below.
Kinkaid Upper School architecture students design a small studio house and convey their project via a model (1/4" scale), floor plan drawing, elevation drawing, sectional drawing, and perspective drawing. In the past, faculty member Mr. Torsten Louis taught the students how to create a perspective drawing by hand. Now, the class accomplishes the drawing by using Google Sketch-up. While the student loses eye training and drawing practice using the program, the student gains a better sense of spatial understanding, and much more quickly. The drawing is also accomplished more efficiently.
Mr. Torsten Louis will again have the students use Google Sketch-up in his architecture class this year.
