Technology in the Classroom News
Technology is enhancing learning in classrooms in the Lower, Middle, and Upper School. A few of the applications of technology in the classroom are listed below.
Middle School students use iMovie to create "Life Stories"
The culmination of the project will be February 28, 2011 at an assembly for the whole Middle School and guests. The older adults are introduced and the students explain the project with a show that includes parts of each individual’s project.
Kinkaid Middle School's Computer 8 class visited Memorial Drive Presbyterian Church again on Monday, December 13th for the culminating show of the Life Story movies that the students did for three senior members of the church.
They have been working for twelve weeks--interviewing, scanning pictures, planning, writing scripts, making storyboards, and finally putting all the accumulated materials together in a movie for their newly acquired older adult friends.
On Monday, December 13th, students gave the seniors gift copies of DVDs of their movies for their families after showing them in the amphitheater of the church to families and friends. Among the other guests were members of the Second Family Ministry of the church. The class plans to invite the ladies and their families and friends to the Middle School assembly to be held on March 7th in the Brown where the students will share an overview of the community service Legacy Project with the whole middle school.
