Avery Geisler has been named one of four national finalists in Photography in the Young Arts scholarship competition sponsored by the National Foundation for Advancement in the Arts.

A panel of experienced judges reviewed photo portfolios made up of thirty-four pictures that illustrated the depth and breadth of each student's work, basing their final choices on which portfolios reached such a high level of conceptual development, technical skill, and aesthetic success that they merited this highly competitive award.

Avery is Kinkaid's third student to become a Young Arts Finalist in Photography, following Blake Pellenberg ('99) and Alex Goss ('10). Avery will be attending YoungArtsWeek in Miami in mid-January to participate in workshops, exhibits, critiques, and photo shoots and to join the group of 150 seventeen and eighteen year old students who represent the nation's best and brightest young artists in nine art disciplines. Congratulations to Avery!
