Alumni E-Newsletter - March 2011
From Alumni Association President
It has been a pleasure to serve as President of the The Kinkaid School’s Alumni Association this year. My years on board have been filled with wonderful activities and enjoyable associations. I have really felt connected to the school. The Alumni Board governs programs, events, activities, and policies for the alumni association.
During this time, I’ve gained perspective on the board and alumni events. It was my primary goal for this year to help deepen the commitment and participation of our alumni to the School. I wanted to broaden the numbers participating in alumni events. There are so many opportunities for involvement: you can attend one of the out of town events (San Antonio, New York City, DC, Austin, Dallas, Los Angeles and San Francisco), sit in on the Hrncir and J. Barry Moss Speaker Series, participate in the annual Zack Semander Golf Tournament or Sporting Clays Benefit, mingle at the Annual Holiday Party, and participate in Alumni Leadership Day. This year we spent a lot of time on the Bylaws, which in the end expanded our board from 18 to 24 members. Please check the latest Spring Magazine for bios on our new members.
One highlight of my presidency was attending the Richmond Guard in March. I was able to reconnect with alumni from the classes of 1928 – 1959. I really encourage the Alumni Board to attend this event next year!
As most of you know Field Day is just around the corner. Every year the Alumni Association hosts the Alumni Taco Booth where local alumni come together to make and sell the best tacos. We would love to have you join us this year! For more information please contact Leslie Roemer Labanowski ’02 at leslie.labanowski@kinkaid.org. The event is Wednesday, April 20th at 11:30 a.m.
Please also Save-the-Date for Reunion Weekend and The Distinguished Alumni Awards Program and Reception this year, generously hosted by the Alumni Association. All classes that end in 1’s and 6’s, this is your Reunion Year! Come back to campus May 6-7 for great fun and reconnect with other alums. Please visit www.kinkaid.org/reunionweekend for more information.
It is with great joy and privilege that I encourage all of you to reconnect with Kinkaid. Please explore our new Alumni Portal, the website, and find ways to become involved with Kinkaid. I want to thank Kinkaid Alumni everywhere for their generous and loyal support during my term. It is great to be a Kinkaid Falcon!
Welcome Wilson ‘69
