When is the deadline to apply for the 2017-2018 Academic Year?

Pre-K & K: The application deadline has passed.
Grades 1-12: The application deadline has passed.

What are the application requirements?

The requirements vary based upon which grade you are applying for, please visit the Apply page for more information.

What is the admission process for non-natural entry points? Can we still apply?

Our natural entry points are Pre-K, Kindergarten, 6th grade and 9th grade.
Yes, we do accept applications for our non-natural entry points and available space is based on attrition.

When is the best time to tour the campus?

We provide tours to prospective families from September through April.
Please contact us at 713-243-5033 to schedule your tour.
(Note: applicants for grades 6-12 will take a tour of campus while on campus for their interview.)

When will families be notified of their child’s admission decision?

Pre-K: The notification date is December 16, 2016.
Grades K-12: The notification date is March 10, 2017.

If we choose to re-apply for admission, do we need to submit a new application?

  • Yes, we welcome your application and require that you re-submit your application forms to us.

If we live outside of the Houston area, how does this affect our test date or interview?

In this case, Pre-K through 5th grade applicants may request a waiver for the group visit (although it is in the best interest of the student to attend).

For 6th through 12th grade applicants, students may be interviewed online. Please call our office at 713-243-5033 to make this request.

On what date will Kinkaid be hosting the Independent School Entrance Exam (ISEE)?

Kinkaid will host the ISEE test on January 7, 2017. Check in will begin at 8:30 a.m. and testing will start promptly at 9:00 a.m. The deadline to register for our testing date is December 17, 2016. Spaces are limited, so be sure to register as soon as possible.

What are the age requirements for Pre-K and Kindergarten applications?

Candidates must be at least four years old by July 1 of the year they will enter Pre-Kindergarten, and they must not have turned 5 before June 1 of the year they will enter Pre-Kindergarten.

For Kindergarten, candidates must be at least 5 years old before July 1 of the year they will enter Kindergarten, and they must not have turned 6 before June 1 of they year they will enter Kindergarten.

Does Kinkaid accept international students?

Yes. However, please be advised that The Kinkaid School does not offer a program for International Students, nor do we issue I-20 visas.

How do I know if I have successfully completed the application?

You will receive a confirmation email within 24 hours of completing the application. If you are unsure whether your application has been received please call our office at 713-243-5033 to verify with a staff member.

Is the application fee refundable if I withdraw my child's application?

No, the application fee is non-refundable.

When should I give my child's teacher the teacher recommendation form to complete?

We ask that you give the teacher time to get to know your child before giving them the recommendation form. To ensure that we get the most up to date report on the student's performance in the classroom we cannot accept teacher recommendations before the following dates:
  • Pre - Kindergarten: Do not give to teachers before October 1
  • Kindergarten - Grade 12: Do not give to teachers before December 1
